Eligibility Criteria
To be qualified for an AAUW International Fellowship, candidates must meet the following standard:
- Take nationality in a country other than the U.S.
- Take an academic degree (earned in the U.S. or overseas) corresponding to a U.S. bachelor’s degree complete by November 15th, 2022.
- Intend to return to her home country to follow a professional career
- Be proficient in English (See below for adequate Tests)
- Postdoctoral candidates must provide proof of their doctorate degree; hold a doctorate classified as a research degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., D.B.A., D.M.) or an M.F.A. by November 15, 2021; and specify where they will conduct their research.
- The Master’s/first professional degree and doctoral candidates must be registered in a U.S. accredited institution situated in the U.S. during the fellowship year.
English Language Test Criteria

- Minimum acceptable scores are as follows:
- TOEFL iBT (Internet-Based Test): 79
- TOEFL Essentials: 8.5
- Revised TOEFL Paper-Delivered Test: 60
- IELTS: 6.5
- A written statement authenticating the candidate’s native language is English.
- Academic record or diploma confirmatory one of the following:
- A secondary diploma or undergraduate degree is from an English-speaking institution.
- One semester of full-time study in the candidate’s discipline at an English-speaking institution between November 2020 and November 2022.

- November 15, 2022, by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time: Time limit for online submission of the application, references, and supporting documents.
- April 15, 2023: Notification of conclusions emailed to all candidates. The AAUW is not able to honor requests for the former announcement.
- July 1, 2023–June 30, 2024: The Fellowship year
